Fabio Scarselli [EMAM 2001]

Ihe EMAM has been very important for my understanding of the production's aspects of cinema. Before joining the course, my point of view on cinema was very creative because of my background. I had a knowledge more oriented on artistic issues and film criticism. With this Masters I understood the business side of cinema and all the problems that movie production implies. I believe that knowledge of movie production is essential also for the people interested in the creative aspects of cinema. The EMAM helped me to get a complete and clear picture of the film industry

Fabio's experiences in cinema began when he was eighteen years old and went to Bassano Del Grappa to attend a 3 year course at Istituto Paolo Valmarana - Ipotesi Cinema, a school directed by the Maestro Ermanno Olmi.

A graduate in Oriental Languages at Istituto Universitario Orientale in Naples with a dissertation on Modern and Contemporary Chinese Literature. After his university studies, he won a scholarship to study cinema at Beijing Film Academy in China, where he followed the courses of Screen Writing, Movie direction and Chinese Cinema History. At the end of the courses at Beijing Film Academy he wrote, produced and directed a movie called "Dove l'occhio non vede".

Then, in 2001 he joined the EMAM completing the programme with an internship at Angeli Movie Service in Rome where he worked as a co-ordinator for the Media Plus projects that they supervised for the Television and Cinema Production companies. With this experience he gained a very deep knowledge about the Media Plus Program. At the end of the internship he served another internship at Fine Line Features in London where he worked as an Assistant Buyer for eight months. He was involved in project for an Italian feature film working with Mark Peploe. At Fine Line Feature he reached a very good understanding of how an American distribution company works.

In November 2003 he joined Lady Film, Italian film distribution company based in Rome, where he is Acquisitions and PR Manager. He is also working on some independent projects, some of these will be shot in China.
